336: JUNGLE CRUISE and Tom Ameen

Composer, pianist and good friend Tom Ameen joins us to share his latest Disney-inspired relaxation album, Magical Meditations . It features tracks like I See The Light, it’s a small world, Circle of Life - all reimagined at slower tempos perfect for naptime.    Then Richard and Sarah share a spoiler-free review of JUNGLE CRUISE. Did it live up to the hype? Was it worth the wait? Would we watch this, The African Queen or The Country Bears ? And most importantly, we want to know what you thought of the film, regardless of our comments. Please share with us on social media (links below) or in our Facebook Group .   This episode also features a few quotes from Gwendoline Yeo (voice of Nala Se on THE BAD BATCH). On July 26 we attended a Virtual Roundtable. My full write-up will be here on Friday. We shared some fun bits here:   How to pronounce Kaminoan according to Dave Filoni. How she changes her voice acting based on the aliens she portrays, like Nala Se as a Kaminoan a

335: LOKI - For All Time. Always.

Skywalking through LOKI -- Season One! Richard and Sarah go deep into this Marvel Disney+ series - we talk characters, soundtrack and share press tidbits from Kate Herron (director) and Natalie Holt (composer). We also share some thoughtful comments from Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston. In Shout-Outs, it’s all about you as we share your thoughts on LOKI.    The series picks up right after a moment we see in Avengers: Endgame. The Avengers have traveled through time to pick up various Infinity Stones, and bungled an attempt to pick up the Tesseract (Space Stone). Instead, Loki seizes the opportunity and takes it, and disappears!!! This causes a nexus event in the timeline, because back in the original Avengers film, Loki is captured and taken back to Asgard by Thor. So in Loki TV series, we see where he reappears - in Mongolia where he is captured by the TVA - The Time Variance Authority which is a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline.

Image
In this King-Size episode, we dive into Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics King-Size Annual #1! (December 1979) This one-shot story is double the size of a regular issue, and is split into two parts: "The Long Hunt" and "A Dual of Eagles". We will be talking about both with our special guest, Chris Alexander (Star Wars Origami author). Richard, Sarah and Chris discuss this comic and find FTOOM! Fast Facts (classic comic people or places that appear now in Star Wars books, comics and films). Plus, what is up with our heroes mingling with the likes of fantasy characters - are those werewolves?? We all remark on the artwork - it is SO MUCH better than previous issues. Hmmm, could that be due to new artists? We think so. Do you remember this comic as a kid, like Richard and Chris? Or are you new to these stories - like Sarah? Either way, we have a fun podcast episode for you. Watch the Unedited Episode and See the Comic Book Pages in this Video   https://www.yout
